Overview

Brainerd’s Franklin Junior High School was a landmark in this north central Minnesota community for more than seven decades. Now, as the Franklin Arts Center, it remains a landmark converted into a multi-purpose art’s center with 25 affordable live/work studios for individuals and families. There are 37,775 square feet for artist studios, arts organizations, and arts-friendly businesses along with 36,247 square feet operated by the Brainerd School District as community program space. There are 39 commercial spaces with very affordable rents. The auditorium is still used for community gatherings, dance festivals, the famous Geritol Frolics and other miscellaneous concerts. The property is conveniently located blocks from schools, government agencies, city parks, shopping, and medical facilities. The property has ample parking, coin-operated laundry, a community room, a residential tenant gallery, and each unit includes a microwave, dishwasher, garbage disposal, as well as laundry hook-ups. Heat, water/sewer, and refuse are included in the rental rates. There is an Artist preference to live/lease here.
